Dear Colleagues,
The Stucky commission I mentioned in the previous post prompts an idea for the future. The Stucky commission cost us only about $750 because the costs were shared by so many parties. I would love to form a coalition of college/university choirs to commission another piece from a prominent composer in the future. By splitting the expense, we cut the cost for each choir considerably. If anyone is interested, we could form a group, choose a composer, and move forward with a commission for the 2006-07 season. Composers I am considering: Dale Warland, Eric Whitacre (probably a long wait), Osvaldo Golijov, Frank Ferko. --The choice of the composer would be up to the group.
thanks for considering the idea.
