R&S TWO-YEAR COLLEGE CHOIRS

Welcome to the ICDA 2 Year College Repertoire and Standards page.

I have been the Conductor of the Choral Program at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny since the fall of 2010. DMACC currently has three vocal ensembles working with singers from various musical backgrounds. Our ensembles perform four concerts per year, as well as service music for the commencement ceremony at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. I have enjoyed being a part of choral singing since the age of six, and enjoy this opportunity to be part of ICDA as an R&S chair.

Along with my teaching at DMACC, I am the Director of Music at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church in the Historic East Village of Des Moines (2008-present). Responsibilities included directing musical ensembles and managing the fine arts series "Music in the East Village".

In addition to choral conducting, I also have several guitar studios in the Des Moines Metro. I teach guitar lessons for DMACC and Grand View University, in both the classical and popular styles. The guitar is a large part of my musical life, to say the least. Performance totals are typically over fifty dates yearly as a background musician, orchestra member and recitalist (recently appearing on Iowa Public Radio's University Concert Series program)

I have a Bachelor of Music Education from Simpson College (1999) and a Masters of Music Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2003). I live in the Union Park neighborhood of Des Moines with my wife and two daughters.
